What We Do
Events
We aim to organise regular events comprising conferences, international webinar series, seminars, workshops, journal clubs, and postgraduate support groups. Our events are based on the 16 purposes and objectives that are central to MARNet’s vision.
Conferences
We organise a scholarly and international conference annually. Our conferences bring together Malaysian and international action research researchers from various academic disciplines. We invite practitioners, educators, academics, students, patients, clients, participants, and members of the community that have taken part in action research projects to join our annual conference.
International Webinar Series
We engage with international action research scholars from multidisciplinary backgrounds to deliver webinars within our organisation. These webinars aim to provide a further understanding of the philosophy and methodology of action research. On the MARNet website, you can explore some of the webinars organised within our organisation, and find details of how to participate in future webinars.
Postgraduate Support Group
We have initiated a postgraduate support group as a support system for postgraduate students conducting action research studies. We encourage members who are conducting their Master’s or PhD theses to sign up for the group. Members can also get involved in our regular writing retreat sessions and biannual postgraduate research forum.
Seminars and Workshops
We provide action research seminars and workshops to our members free of charge and to non-members for a small fee. The aim is to deliver a practical seminar or workshop to participants and to help them conduct action research either for their professional development or for their postgraduate studies.
Journal Club
We invite our members to participate in a journal club. Our journal club discusses published and peer-reviewed action research articles and book chapters. This method has proven to help readers to keep up with current findings, exercise their critical thinking and appraisal skills, and to improve their presentation and discussion abilities.
